To Remember, Celebrate and Fight Back!

In 2021, I was diagnosed with Leukaemia. After all the treatments, I was free! Back to work and life as I knew it. That was just for a short three months before I relapsed! I got an Allogenic stem cell transplant in 2023 and have clawed my way back up to normality since. Unfortuantly thats cost me my employment along the way. I wanted to keep my skills sharp while also giving back since I now had my strength. Thats when I saw the Volunteer your skills page on the Irish Cancer Society website!

I volunteered my skills as a multimedia designer and a social media manager. In a month they replied saying they had the perfect opening for me with the Relay for Life event in Midleton, Co Cork. It was their 10th year and unfortunately their Public Relations committee member had passed away in the last year. I was honored to step into the roll and I instantly got to work learning about Relay and promoting their amazing event and message.

We wont stop until no-one in Ireland dies from Cancer

I designed and created promotional content for the Relay from May 2024 for the event in September 2024. I also was mentioned in an Evening Echo article about the Event.

I feel I was Successful in my work. Their reach on social media channels went from 400 to 4,000 under my hand and videos posted to their pages that I made racked up hundreds of views where they had no video content before my appointment.

We managed to Raise a whopping €61,553.30 for vital Irish Cancer Society services and research helping the fight against cancer. We are aiming to do the same (possibly better) in 2025! All over Ireland, Relay for Life has raised over €900,000 for the Irish Cancer Society, something I am proud to say I contributed to.
